About eWaste CONNECTION

About us

We create a unique environment where together we recycle electronic waste, while providing meaning and connection for participants and volunteers.

We have workshops where we take apart electronic items and sort the materials for recycling. It’s fun, we do our bit for the environment and we make friends.

We are working hard to grow our locations and capacity to support many more people to lead a meaningful and purposeful life.

Our Mission

To be a social enterprise for the local community providing opportunities to recycle, volunteer, train and empower people of all abilities in an inclusive environment.

Our Vision

Empowering people to thrive and belong.

Our Story

How We Got Started

Born from a desire to find meaningful purpose for her disabled son, mother Monique noticed their son’s interest in taking things apart. This led Monique and her family to start a group to pull electronic materials apart and find where they could recycle the parts.

Today demand is growing! With new locations we have already recycled over 230,000 kilograms of eWaste and provided the opportunity for over 250 participants to take part in eWaste workshops. It is now more important than ever to assist this social enterprise to keep growing.

Why we are important?

We offer a valuable opportunity for some of the least advantaged members of our community to develop a purpose. We also provide much needed respite time for family and carers of our participants.

We are deeply committed to helping combat the effects of the fastest growing waste stream in the world! The impact of e-waste on the planet is frightening and ever-growing. Electronics continue to be discarded globally at an appalling rate, with manufacturers showing no sign of promoting repair as a user option.

We are taking action! Recycling more than 95% of items into useful products and bi-products.

Where We Are Now

We are actively working to provide new locations and opportunities for more people. We are working hard to seek funding from Government, Private Businesses, and Individuals to ensure we can provide more purpose and opportunities in Queensland.

Monique has overseen the operations at eWaste Connection since late 2016 and continues to lead the business with dedication and passion.
